Basically my American Bulldog is currently eating Science Diet but the $40.00 per 15lb’s is hitting the check book pretty hard so I was wondering on another good brand that will keep her healthy.

Canidae is a very good food. And the price is extremely reasonable.
Check out this site if you wanna do some research (also look and see how many stars Science Diet is worth)http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_food_…

None of my dogs have ever liked Science Diet, and I have never liked the price, or been convinced that it is superior to other dry foods. My dogs eat James Wellbeloved, but I don’t know if you can get that in the states. Go for a well known, well respected brand, but introduce it gradually by mixing increasing quantities with your dog’s current diet – don’t swap all at once or you risk upset stomachs or even just refusal to try the new food.

Well, many foods are better than Science Diet. It’s sometimes hard to believe that vets recommend that crap.
You want to have your pup on a Large Breed Puppy formula. Some good brands you could try are:
Canidae
Wellness
Natural Choice
Innova
Evo
Nutro Ultra
Nutro Max
Solid Gold
Blue Buffalo
Orijen
the Chicken Soup brand
STAY AWAY FROM:
Purnia
Pedigree
IAMS
Eukanuba
Science Diet
Ol’ Roy
Tuffy’s
Kibbles ‘n’ Bits
Beneful
Cesar
any dog food sold in Wal-Mart and other supermarkets. They’re full of corn, dyes, and nasty crap. Not fit for pigs, let alone dogs.

I just changed my american bulldogs food to nutro max. She loves it. It has a lot of protein in it too. Just read the label because people say it’s no good or whatever but it’s the same as what they are mentioning! I see a difference in her coat as well. She doesn’t poop as often either. She only goes twice a day now and on pruina one she was going a lot.
Edit: Iams is no good anymore. It’s like giving your dog “gravy train” sold by price chopper. lol.

Science Diet is bad and plus they kill cats and dogs and test on them. Eukanuba also kills cats and dogs to test their dog foods. Please don’t buy those brands!
I personally like Purina. I think it is a very good brand. It didn’t fall victim to the recalls and it is balanced well.
I feed my pit andgreat dane purina. It is a lot less expensive too.

Everyone is correct about Science Diet. Forget it even exists.
The two serious breeders I know raise ABs on Royal Canin Large Breed puppy food. It must work as my male puppy weighed 48 lbs the day he turned 4 months old and is a solid muscle that can run like the wind.

I’ve always used Pedigree large breed, and my dogs are great!! Great coats and a lot of energy and no health problems! There’s a couple of other good ones, I’ve tried them but my dogs chose the Pedigree. A loving pitbull breeder.

I agree with Amanda, Canidae is definitely the best bang for your buck. It’s an excellent food and far superior to Science Diet, plust a 40 pound bag is only about $40. Not a bad deal at all.

A good quality dog food is the investment you make in your puppy’s future health. Worth paying a bit more while the pup is growing and finding an alternative food later.

Science Diet isn’t a good food anyways. Canidae is good and is about $1 per lb. (you’ll feed less of it too since its higher quality)

Science Diet isn’t that great.
I use Nutro’s Natural Choice, which is about $38 for a 40 lb bag. Its real good, all natural with no byproducts.

nutro is pretty good keeps them healthy and makes their coat really shinny, the biggest bag is 30$ at least in my petsmart……
